Worth Less Human Beings

The AP's Seth Borenstein reports that the EPA has de-valued the worth of a human life by nearly $1 million over the last five years, effectively lowering the cost benefit of environmental regulations.

Let's raise a glass to L.F. Eason III, the (now former) director of the N.C. Standards Laboratory, who defied Gov. Mike Easley's directive to lower flags at state buildings to half-mast in honor of the odious Jesse Helms. Given the choice of complying or resigning, Eason chose the latter.
