Tomorrow, 3 June 2005, one of the brave is being buried at Arlington Cemetary, a man who babysat our kids once or twice, and disarmed bombs for the U.S. in Afganistan and Iraq - except the last one. Others around us knew Russell V. better than us; they tell us he was kind and normal and viewed the bombs as his job - he was ready to die, I was told. I don't know how we explain that to his wife, who he married two weeks before he was redeployed in Iraq. And we carry his memory, dim in me already, with us until some time when dying for country is not a daily occurence.
